Podcast Safe Music

Podcasting is the new thing in broadcasting nowadays. Practically anyone can create his own podcast and make himself known to the world. Perhaps the best thing about podcasting is that it is meant to be free. In addition to that, podcasts transcend the boundaries of traditional broadcasting. You may be from the US but anyone with access to the internet can listen to your podcast. A person may be in Timbuktu and yet have access to your podcast.

Music is inherent to the success of any podcast. It adds spice and flavor to an otherwise bland broadcast. That is why a large pool of resources has been developed by people in the podcasting community. Beginners and veterans a like search for the perfect background music or filler sounds for every podcast they make. So how do you go about looking for that spice?

Despite the freedom provided by podcasting, there are some issues you must address before jumping into the bandwagon and creating your own podcast. Copyright and intellectual property rights have been a main concern in all aspects of broadcasting for some time now and podcasting is not exempt from that. As a result, the term podsafe has come into existence. What exactly is podsafe? This term encompasses any material that may be used for podcasts without violating any copyright or license. A special thing about podsafe material is that the very same material might require some sort of license in other media but totally safe for podcasting. Due to the open community nature of podcasting, many songs, music, and other type of materials are allowed to be used for free exclusively for podcasts. While you might have to acquire the permission of the copyright holder for other broadcasting media, with podsafe material, you can use it freely in podcasts.

Some specific kinds of work are inherently podsafe. Works that fall under the public domain or some works with Creative Commons licenses can be used in podcasts without any issues. They are meant to be used, and used freely.

There are some entities on the web that license music especially for podcasts. Their podcast safe music is generally available to anyone for downloading and for use in free broadcasts over the internet. The only restriction they have is for the user to duly acknowledge the source. Anyone may also post music on their sites as long as the piece of work is totally original.

Some sites make their music available for no fee at all. On the other hand there are sites which promote artists particularly independent ones and charge a small fee for downloading their songs. Notably, these sites also offer labeled artists and are supposed to split the downloading fees with them.

The important thing to bear in mind when looking for podcast safe music is that most of the groups offering materials make them available to the general public for free. The caveat is that your podcast must not be used for commercial purposes. If that is the case, then you will have no problems finding the right track for your podcast.

Popularize Your Music On Youtube

While there is actually no problem with making your own videos and releasing them on YouTube – in truth I completely advocate that you do – there’s a very powerful way to get thousands of visitors, either to your own videos, your band’s web site, or even better a promotional offer like “sign on to our mailing list to get our new single for free”, or some other such thing, by simply paying other YouTube users to incorporate a link to your site within their description box.

If you don’t quite know what I’m talking about go to Youtube and search the most viewed videos. You need to find a few examples of videos with the link in the description box.

To the right of the video you should see a link. This is an example of what I’m talking about.

To do this you simply take these steps.

Search YouTube with keywords that relate in some way to your song or your band. For instance, if you had done a cover of smells similar to teenager Spirit you may search words like Nirvana, smells like teenager Spirit, Grunge, etc .

Next, sort the results by “view count”. You’re looking for videos with many thousands, or perhaps millions of perspectives. Disregard any videos that are posted by the artist themselves or any videos that already have a link in the outline box.

Then all you have to do is send the users of applicable videos a message explaining that you would like to pay them on a once per month bases to place your link in there outline box.

You may possibly only find that one in every ten or twenty people are interested in your offer, but if even one link on a highly viewed video can imply thousands of new visitors, and potential new fans every month.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

*Note* I would suggest that you use this method with 2nd tier record companys initially and then try your hand with he bigger boys once you have a few singles and a good sales previous record under your belt. Perhaps even try to get a music publishing contract first.

Most major labels want to see that you’ve had some success on your own before taking the chance and offering you a massive advance.

But to be completely truthful with you for an instant, the idea of getting a record deal for me is a real turn off today. I have discovered a simple system to build a list of fans and sell my music that’s completely new to the music industry.

This stuff is actually cool and you must definitely examine it below.

With that said I am doing hope you enjoyed learning how to get a recording contract and if you have got any feedback or questions please tell me. You’ll be getting lots more free music marketing guides form me over the coming months.

Acoustic Music

Acoustic music has always been popular and has been around for many years. The art of acoustic music has been performed throughout the centuries, and throughout the world. So what is it about acoustic music that makes it so enjoyable and admired?

Music that is made from using instruments without using any form of electronic means, can be considered as acoustic music. This type of music started to get a name for itself, after the arrival of electrical instruments such as the electric guitar. Of course the advent of these electrical instruments is relatively new compared to the amount of time that music has been played for, therefore, you can almost class all musical instruments and all music as acoustic. If electrical instruments very never invented, acoustic music would be all music and may not have had a specific term named after it.

However acoustic songs can be produced and edited through electrical means and if there is a gig or concert being played by an acoustic artist, very often, the sound is amplified using electronic amplifiers. But it has to be done caringly to maintain the natural sound accurately. Electronic amplifiers are only used to increase the volume of the sound from the acoustic instrument.

One of the most popular types of acoustic music is acoustic guitar songs. These types of songs seem very intimate and personal as mostly it is just one person and their guitar performing the song. This type of music is often played in music bars, with open microphone nights and they seem to be very popular. Acoustic guitars create music through the vibration of the strings but to increase the sound, an acoustic guitar uses a soundboard, resonant cavity and a sound box.

There are many programs now supporting the acoustic music scene such as MTVs Unplugged, created in the 1990s, and Radio 1s Live Lounge where good acoustic songs are played to thousand of viewers and listeners. These types of productions try to promote acoustic music in an effort to get music back to basics and to increase the quality of music that people are subjected to.

Some see solo acoustic songs as a breath of fresh air due to the increasing production of often computerised, synthetic and cluttered music that tries to dominate the charts. Therefore some think of acoustic music as being more pure then other forms, as it is raw and natural.

Acoustic music is natural and when performed correctly, can produce sounds better than any computer generated sounds. It is an art form that will never lose popularity.

Repairing A Music Box

One of the most beautiful gifts that someone can give another person, especially a wife or daughter, is a music box. Through the gift of music, they will be able to keep a persons memory alive through the music of the music box, which can play on for decades.

Music boxes, sadly, can also break down. So, to maintain the music that may mean so much to the person who received the musical gift, it may be required that you begin to learn about repairing a music box.

Most problems in music boxes are caused by a malfunction in the starter of the music box. Thankfully, this can often be repaired at home without having to get it repaired at a shop. There are three different types of starters for music boxes, and knowing how to fix each one will make you very versatile. As well, always remember to be very delicate as you could cause more damage to a music box in your attempt to repair it.
Wire Starter

This type of music box plays when the lid is opened and pressure is released on a metal stick, and stops when the lid is closed. When the pressure is released on the metal stick, a spring pushes the spring up and moves a connected wire down, which releases an air brake and causes the music box to play. These are the types of music box movements you need to be aware of to repair it.

You should try changing the angle of the spring with pliers. You may have to adjust it quite a bit, up and down, left and right, depending on if the music starts, doesnt start, or starts but wont stop.

You can also pull the metal stick, which may be caught on something or slightly bent. If bent, it should be replaced.
Button Starter

When a button is pushed on the box, a metal plate moves the starter mechanism, which releases a latch from the wheel of the cylinder in music boxes. This releases the air brake that allows the box to play.

In these, check to make sure that the button mechanism does not have a loose nut, and if it does, tighten it. This will hopefully allow it to connect with the metal plate to start the music. You can also adjust the plate and move it closer to the starter button.
Pin Starter

These are used in toy music boxes, where the pin blocks the air brake. When pulled, the music plays, when pushed, the music stops.

If the box does not play, make sure that the pin blocks the air brake and that when it is pulled, it releases the air brake. The pin should not be too long and if it is, it may need to be filed down. If it wont stop playing, then adjust the position of the movement and make sure that the pin is not too short. If it is, put some tape on the end to lengthen it.
Summary

Music boxes are wonderful gifts for someone you love, but like anything, they can break down and it is important that when you have a music box, you know how to repair it. Thankfully, many are easy to repair and all it takes is a basic knowledge of the inner-workings of music boxes and other types of musical gifts.

It is easy to do, people love them and you can really shine with a well-made music box, so why are you not making music boxes yet? You may find that when you give a musical gift like music boxes, that you have developed a love for putting music boxes together and it could turn into something you do a lot more. It could end up being one of your favorite hobbies in fact.

Everyone loves music, everyone loves the gift of music and there isnt a person on the planet who will not appreciate the gift you have given them when you take the time to put it together for them.
